Armor

Most characters will be allowed to wear a full 10-slot set of armor (chest, arms, legs, neck, hands, head, waist, feet, face, shield) and a set of 8 rings. Armor plays an important role in reducing damage taken from enemies. Armor absorption is based on two things:

  • The amount of armor you have: Armor will be able to absorb up to 75% of all damage. The amount of armor required to get 75% vs. a same-leveled mob will slowly increase --> ex. you might only need 400 armor at level 1, but at level 30 you need 1000 to reach 75%.
  • Level difference: If the level gap between the attacker and the enemy is too large (such as a level 30 attacking a level 1), there won't be much damage absorption. It is clear that the higher level will be more skilled in inflicting pain.

Types of Armor

Furthermore, armor is split into four different types: cloth, leather, chain, plate. The class of your character will determine what types of armor he/she is able to wear. The following list only includes the "heaviest" type of armor classes may wear. Classes that are able to wear the heaviest armors will most likely be able to wear those that are lighter as well (ex. a berserker who is able to wear plate will also be able to wear cloth, leather, and chain if he wishes to).

Cloth Armor

Mage, Monk, Lich, Werewolf.
Usable by anyone.

Leather Armor

Assassin, Cleric/Assassin, Cleric of Aramon, Cleric of Kamira, Cleric of Ceris, Druid, Fighter/Thief, Fighter/Mage, Thief, Ranger, Rogue, Vampire.
Anyone who can use chain/plate.

Chain Armor

With restricted use: Ranger, unable to duel wield or any ranger abilities. Fighter/Thief, but will be unable to use thief abilities.
Anyone who can use plate.

Plate Armor

Bard, Berserker, Cleric of Ares, Cleric of Enoch, Fighter, Deathknight, Paladin
With restricted use: Ranger, unable to duel wield or any ranger abilities. Fighter/Thief, but will be unable to use thief abilities.

Other

Rings --> All classes, except for Liches, Monks, and Werewolves.
Bucklers --> All classes.
Shields --> All classes. Restricted to one-handed weapons while wielding.

Benefits of Skill

In order to raise your armor skill, you must wear pieces of the type you'd like to raise. Random slots of armor are scratched during battle, every time with a chance to raise your skill. Higher armor skill will increase the longevity of your set by reducing the chance that it may get damaged after taking a hit. Ultimately, it will make your armor set last longer.

Note: pieces without classification such as rings and shields will not raise your skills in armor.
