Exploring 101

After choosing a quest to work on, or if you are looking for a new perm to talk to, there are many ways you can go about exploring the MUD. It is best to bring along a friend, unless you are of high level or have good sneaking/hiding abilities. Also, ALWAYS make sure you have a hazy!

• Bring a Searcher/Tracker: Druids, rangers, and werewolves are your best friends when it comes to exploring. They have the fastest search timers and are able to track through mazes if you ever get lost.
• Watch Out for Traps: Make sure that you <prepare> in rooms that look a little suspicious. Falling block traps can hit you for up to half your maximum HP and acid traps can dissolve your inventory, including everything you are wearing!
• Read Room Descriptions: Even if you have a searcher/tracker in your group, there are many hidden rooms in the world that are extremely hard to search for but may be noted in room descriptions. Descriptions usually give hints and even bolded words that suggest possible hidden exits nearby.
• Keep Spells On: The best thing you can do for yourself is to make sure you always have detect-invisibility, fly, and other important spells on that may help you detect exits. Without these spells on, you will not be able to see certain obvious exits.
